RPG specialist Bioware, whose work includes Jade Empire and Mass Effect, is working on a new MMO based on one its best loved franchises, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

Billed as sequel to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords, the new Star Wars MMO was revealed casually by John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, who will be working on the new title alongside Lucas Arts and Bioware.

"We've got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development,"Riccitiello told Conde Nast Portfolio magazine. "The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about in partnership with Lucas [Arts is] coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry."

In a bid to further strengthen its position in the industry, Electronic Arts acquired Bioware in 2007 and with its talented RPG team at the helm we're expecting them to produce a far better effort than the most recent Star Wars MMO, SOE's Star Wars Galaxies.
