Following the launch of Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning on Sept 18, Mythic Entertainment has reported impressive subscription figures across the three major territories.

In its first week since launch over 500,000 new players have registered for the fantasy MMORPG in North America, Europe and the Oceanic territories, making it the fastest selling MMO of all time.

“In just one week we have a half a million people playing WAR online, and the ranks of Order and Destruction are growing at a record-breaking pace for a new MMORPG,” said Mark Jacobs, co-founder and general manager of Mythic Entertainment.

“We spent years working to provide players with the most stable, epic, and polished online world we could, but it is the players that have truly brought the Age of Reckoning to life.”

Tell me about it, sold so fast round here there was no stock left so I ended up paying full whack for it from EA's online store and buying a digital download version.
quality. sounds like a brillient game! might even compete with wow which in my time of playing it found it very boring :(

i'l wait a while before trying this game
So what it sold half a million in first week. Its just a headline grabber and nothing else. Any MMO lives and dies by its user base. Considering the game breaking bugs, lack of active support, poor client performance, i'll be interested to see their sub figures in 3 & 6 months time. Considering that WoTLK is out in November and that many WoW players were using WAR as an alternative until the expansion if they can keep their numbers up then there may be hope for WAR. The next couple of months are going to be interesting for Mythic.

From all the issues i had with this game and with GOA i will not be putting any money into Mythic/GOA, the term couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery comes to mind.
Personally, after the open beta problems, I have not had any real problems. Great game, good community and does have less of the grind than I experienced in WoW. Also much better for casual play.
Zero problems here also. good to see it's selling well, I think I'll be playing this for a long time to come :)
