The closed beta phase for Final Fantasy XIV has come to a close and the open phase now kicks off on Wednesday 1 September at 2pm.

Those who have been on the closed beta have now received invites to download the new client. New players who want to test out the game prior to its launch on 30th September can sign up at the official site.

The massively multiplayer online game will include many of the gameplay elements that has made the Final Fantasy series so popular, including plenty of quests, battle and job systems, crafting and combat.

The PC version launches on September 30, 2010 and the PS3 version is due in March next year.
