Ubisoft has officially announced Watch Dogs 2. In the game, set in San Francisco this time around, you will play "brilliant hacker" Marcus Holloway, attempting to fight the establishment behind massive corruption. Watch Dogs 2 comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs on 15th November 2016.

As the "birthplace of the tech revolution", the San Francisco Bay Area, Oakland to the east, and Silicon Valley to its south, seems an appropriate region in which to set the new Watch Dogs 2 game. You will play the young hacker Marcus Holloway, and team up with the notorious 'Dedsec' in order to take down an invasive operating system which is leveraged by criminal masterminds "to monitor and manipulate citizens on a massive scale".

In the colourful and dynamic open world environment of the SF Bay area you will be hacking into various connected devices to help in your mission. Advanced hacking abilities come from the use of your laptop for more powerful outcomes. The game offers a wide choice of play styles; from stealthy hacking, to guns blazing – you choose the method to get the job done. Varied hacker tools you can make use of include RC cars, Quadrocopter drones, 3D printed weapons and more. In the video below you can hear about the improved control of vehicles, better driving mechanics, and being able to shoot from your car.

Ubisoft has designed a single player campaign and this will be augmented with a "brand new multiplayer Watch Dogs experience," that includes both co-op and player vs. player activities. As mentioned in the intro, the game comes out in mid-November, you can even pre-order it now if you really enthusiastic, and the trusting type.

Looks alright, just need to remember to make everything 50% less good in your mind and you'll know what it'll be like at retail
Did this game need a sequel?

Very true - the first game turned out to be a pretty poor GTA clone with “Hacking” (a term used *very* loosely) thrown in. It wasn't good.

Still they sold a load due to the hype - I doubt many people will make the same mistake again.

Don't be so sure…..
Played the first one, did a couple of missions, spent a little time just bimbling about and doing the little random encounters. Went off for more story, did this one atop a building and suddenly the game was completed… All pretty “Meh”, really.

The scenery was kinda nice, but nothing special on a 1080p monitor. Character animation was jerky and everyone pretty much wobbled along. The Division is better, but again pointless for lower class 1080 gamers like me.

Game mechanics were stupid - “Hacking” was basically standing in range of something and pressing a button.
