Fierce bidding on the transfer market
Football Manager Live takes the fantasy football approach. You create your own fantasy team name, but are then able to bid live against other managers on real players from the transfer list. Initial fears suggested that this would cause some intense bidding wars on the world’s top players and they'd all be snapped up overnight, but thankfully this shouldn't happen. Each player will start off at the same level with the same amount of cash and the same amount of skills at their finger-tips.
One thing that worried me was that launch day gamers would furiously race to gather as much cash as possible to buy the best players, but Sega will be combating the problem by placing acquisition charges on the top players and aging them by 1 year every month.
This means that soon enough all of the real players will have disappeared from the game and those players left will be those that have been trained and molded by the likes of you and me. Therefore, the need to understand how to train, motivate and improve players will be more important than ever before.
Once again, you’ll control every aspect of the day to day affairs of your fantasy club and also build, train and motivate your squad throughout the season.
Anyone who knows Football Manager, will know that it’s rather like landing a real job, albeit an enjoyable one without the physical demands, the cold weather and the barrage of four-lettered abuse from the stands. Underneath its myriad of menus you can can be assured there’s a huge database and stat-crunching engine that analyses every decision you make in a thousand different ways, translating it onto the pitch, training ground and boardroom.
Football Manager games have in the past been aimed at the hardcore football fanatic, but we're assured, just like FM 2008, that Football Manager Live will feature plenty of tutorials to help you on your way. We're also told that players will be able to join a variety of different leagues that will be suited to both casual and hardcore players.
With regular downloads planned, goal of the month competitions and live league matches, Football Manager Live will be a ground-breaking titles and should be the best football simulation to date.
